My name is Sylvain Plante, and one of my hobbies is to design board games.
During my day job (and sometimes at night), I am an interventional cardiologist. If you've ever heard of angioplasty or stents, that's what I do.
I help people who have blockages in their heart vessels or who are having heart attacks.
I live in a rural area of Ontario on a little hobby farm with Claudia, my sweetie. Our house was built about 60 years ago by an English carpenter. We were told that his nickname was Crooked Thumb...
I have 3 amazing children: Samuel who lives in Toronto, and Mary-Lee and Francis who live in Quebec City.
I love the outdoors and I really enjoy helping Claudia with her hobby. She is growing lavender on our property.
I also really enjoy jumping on one of my bikes to take a ride on the unpaved roads around my place. It clears my mind and for me, it has been a great source of inspiration for my games. And when I need a bit more wind, I jump on my Spyder....
During winter, I play hockey as a goaltender (my last name is Plante, so what did you expect ?)
When I have some time left, I like to hit the drums or scratch the ukulele.
I've spent a lot of time designing board games and crafting game prototypes over the last 5 years. The satisfaction I got from it, the people I met, the intellectual stimulation that it generated has been priceless. If you have a chance, I would invite you to read the article written by Chris Rowlands entitled: "10 Reasons Everyone Should Try Game Design".
If you need more info on one of my games, you need a copy of the rules, or you have an idea on how to make it better, please drop me a line in the Contact Form below.
